Her parents moved to Dallas, Texas shortly after her birth. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Performing and Visual Arts which is located in the Arts District. After that, she earned a BFA diploma in acting at Stephens College and also studied at the British American Drama Academy. She also spent six years at the Dallas Theatre Center, and one year with the Encore Company. Prior to her big screen debut she started her acting career at the theater. Elizabeth showed off her charismatic acting talent after Frequency (2001 with Dennis Quaid) and Neil LaBute's sci-fi time travel film Nurse Betty ((2000) with Rene Zellweger).
